If you're actually worried about quality then I would scratch that whole setup. You gotta spend money and have some patience if you want a setup thats really gonna sound nice. A $300-$400 setup is just somethin thats gonna get you recording. If youre in it for the long haul I say save yourself a few extra hundred dollars for each piece of equipment. You wont regret it. Most likely if you get cheap shit now you're gonna end up selling it within a few months asking what else can you get to improve your quality.. Its a money saver to get really good shit in the beginning compared to upgrading every few months or so. Just takes patience to save the money. Me personally I try to spend atleast $300 for each piece of equipment. Sounds like alot but trust me.

Thanks for all the advice but I'm gonna get a Rode NT1A and a Presonus Tube Pre. This setup's within my budget for the moment. Thanks again for the help.

Another change, I've been recommended this setup:

    Rode NT1-A Condenser Including Shockmount
    M-Audio Audiophile 192 Soundcard
    Soundcraft Compact 4 Mixer

    How's that look?
