Upgrade For PC
Well recently I've decided to upgrade my PC based on the fact that whenever I run Pro Tools with a fair amount of plug ins the system has a tendency to lag. I have 2 gigs of ram, and a 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor... I was thinking maybe a better processor could solve the problem. Any advice?

Re: Upgrade For PC
you might as well buy a new computer... upgrade your ram... to whatever the highest is... if it's 2 gigs... buy a completely new pc... do not get vista.

Re: Upgrade For PC
Yea...def need a new comp...you cant upgrade the processor without upgrading the motherboard of your current pc...and after doin that...youve pretty much bought a new pc
but dual core is the way to go for processing power...they even have quad core all the way up to 12 core processors...imagine runnin protools on a 12 core...hot fire
What to Look for:
Dual Core processor
2 gigs ram
160 gb hard drive
i did some lookin recently...some places got nice hook ups wit dual cores for $600...i thinks thats pretty much your ballpark...just remember...you can always upgrade later...so make sure what you buy has room for expansion

Re: Upgrade For PC
Thanks 2, I was checking out the manual that came with my M box and it mentioned that when you run a dual processor set up it dedicates one of the processors completely to Pro tools at 99%-its going to be righteous haha.

Re: Upgrade For PC
another thing you can do... is find a dual or quad core... and if your comp isn't to old try to find memory compatible computers... that way you already have your memory at 4 gb or whatever...
